Lily Cole By Juergen Teller - more here.
Lily Cole is starring in Sally Potter’s latest film Rage. Sally Potter is a brilliant film maker who has directed such masterpieces as The Tango Lesson and Orlando. In Rage she is tackling the convoluted hyperboles of the fashion world. Jude Law is also part of the cast, portraying the part of a female super model. Check out more here.

Venus nach Giorgione a film by Juergen Boettcher from 1981 on Giorgione’s famous painting Venus Asleep is apparently a very poignant dissection of our preconceptions of perception.

Goya’s La Maja Desnuda
Lily Cole’s photos were sent to me in an email by a dear friend who is a brilliant photographer and obsessive gazer, a talented capturer of the beauty of the female (as well as) male beauty. The male gaze over female sexuality and the complexity of the perception and representaion of beauty and the female form in all of its glory and vulnerability is really what I want to ponder as I look at these brilliant works of art. The gender bending tendencies of our times bring forth art that lets us see the possiblity of the gaze beyond the male, beyond the passive, beyond the conventional and hopefully even beyond gender. XXY or Clare’s work.
